The information below summarises all the available Nikon Z lenses for the Nikon Mirrorless Z range of cameras.  As new lenses become available I will add to the list to keep it complete.

Nikon have not published what the S stands for on their S lenses but I believe it stands for Super, Spectacular, Stunning and Sharp.

Nikon NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S Lens

This lens is great for landscapes and wide interior shooting, it is also suitable for Astro photography.  Being f/1.8 it is a marvelous low light lens for night, early morning and late day photography.  It is excellent for environmental portraits with beautiful soft backgrounds.

NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S

Briefly summarising this lens, it covers an aperture range of f/1.8 to f/16, so it is very suited to wide angle low light photography.  The angle of view of the lens is 94°, and it has a minimum focus distance of 7.87 inches (20 cm).  The maximum magnification of the lens is 0.19 times and it has nine rounded diaphragm blades which will give a beautiful rounded bokeh.

The optical design is with 14 elements in 11 groups and naturally has auto focus but does not have image stabilization.  The filter size is a fairly standard 77mm front mounting and the lens dimensions are 3.33″ (84.5 mm) diameter and 4.27″ (108.5mm) in length and weighs  / 84.5 x 108.5 mm in length and weighs 1.11 lb (505 grams).  For anyone requiring a lens for low light, this lens will be far more suitable than the 24-70mm f/2.8 zoom lens. For an ultra wide lens in this focal length range this lens would be my choice.

Nikon NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S Lens

The 24mm lens is ideal for any landscapes, cityscapes, environmental portraits, architecture and group people shots with a very bright and fast f/1.8 aperture, that makes it an extremely versatile lens in low light.

The maximum aperture of this lens is f/1.8 and the minimum aperture f/16, with an angle of view of 84°.  The minimum Focus Distance 9.84″ (25 cm) and the lens has a maximum magnification of 0.15 times.  The optical design of the lens is based on12 elements in 10 groups and includes 9 rounded diaphragm blades to give an excellent bokeh.

This is an autofocus lens but does not have image stabilization.  The filter size is 72 mm and the lens measures 3.07″ (78mm) in diameter and 3.8″ (96.5 mm) in length with a weight of 15.87 oz (450 grams).

Nikon 26mm f/2.8 NIKKOR Z Lens

This lens is a slim wide-angle prime lens, for the full-frame/FX-format mirrorless cameras, it is such a small lens to give an extremely small form factor to the Nikon mirrorless cameras.

The lens is 26mm with an aperture range of f/2.8 to f16 and covers the full frame Nikon Z format.

The angle of view is 79° and the lens has a minimum focus distance of 20 cm and a maximum magnification of 0.19x.

The optical design is with 8 elements in 6 groups and comprises 7 rounded diaphragm blades.

The front filter size is 52 mm and the lens dimensions are 23.5  mm diameter and 70 mm in length with a weight of 125grams.

Nikon 28mm f/2.8 NIKKOR Z (SE) Lens

The 28mm f/2.8 Z (SE) lens will excel with landscapes, architecture, group shots and travel photography. It is a very cheap lens cost wise and also very small in a package with any of the Nikon Z mirrorless cameras. This is a great lens for any street photography type of captures.

This 28mm lens has a maximum Aperture of f/2.8 and a minimum aperture of  f/16 with an angle of view of 53°.  The minimum focus distance is 7.6″ (19.2 cm) and the lens has a maximum magnification of 0.2 times.

The lens is autofocus but does not have image stabilization.  The filter size is 52 mm and the lens has a diameter of 2.8″ (71.5 mm) and a length of 1.7″ (43 mm) with a weight of 5.6 oz (160 grams).

Nikon 28mm f/2.8 NIKKOR Z Lens

This lens the 28mm f/2.8 Z lens is very similar to the 28mm f/2.8 Z (SE) version of the lens but is slightly different in looks cosmetically.  The lens will also excel with landscapes, architecture, group shots and travel photography. It is a very cheap lens cost wise and also very small in a package with any of the Nikon Z mirrorless cameras.  This is a great lens for any street photography type of captures.

This compact 28mm lens has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 and a minimum aperture of f/16 with an angle of view of 53°. The minimum focus distance is 7.5″ (19 cm) and the maximum magnification is 0.2 times.

This lens has an optical design of 9 elements in 8 groups and has seven rounded diaphragm Blades. The lens is autofocus but has no image stabilization.  Thea filter size is 52 mm, and the lens diameter is 2.8″ (70 mm) with a length of 1.7″ (43 mm) and a weight of 5.5 oz (155 grams).

This new Nikon Z lens has full frame coverage with auto focus but without image stabilisation.

The Filter Size of the lens comprises 11 elements in 9 groups with nine diaphragm blades.

This 35mm lens is a bright and versatile walkaround lens with a natural wide angle of view and an extremely bright maximum aperture, this is a lightweight and easy to carry lens which brings very low light versatility and shallow depth of field, and edge to edge clarity to photo and video applications in all environments.

This lens is suited for the street, landscapes and also architectural subjects. It will also excel as an environmental portrait lens.
The lens features two aspherical elements to result in its smaller size and also to help minimize distortion.

The lens is suitable for using with gimbals and cages. Again, the versatile angle of view and close working distance benefit the les greatly. Nikon NIKKOR Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct Lens

This is an excellent sharp lens for general photography such as landscapes, portraits, travel, cityscapes and environmental portraits and for all general photography.  A super lens for sharp, narrow depth of field and super bokeh photography. The best low light photography lens.  It should be noted that this lens is a manually focussed lens and it is very large, very heavy and also very expensive for a lens of this focal length.

NIKKOR Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct

This 58mm lens has a huge maximum aperture of f/0.95 and a minimum aperture of f/16, the angle of View is 40° 50′, and it has a minimum focus distance of 1.64′ (50 cm).  The maximum magnification is 0.19 times.  The optical design is 17 elements in 10 groups, and it comprises 11 diaphragm Blades.

It is a manual focus lens and does not have any image stabilization.  The lens has a fixed tripod collar which rotates.  The filter size is 82 mm and the lens diameter is 4.02″ (102 mm) with a length of 6.02″ (153 mm) and a weight of 4.4 lb (2000 grams).

Nikon NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S Lens

This lens can be regarded as the premier portrait lens in the Nikon Z lens range.

The Focal Length is 85mm with a maximum aperture of f/1.2.  The lens format coverage is full frame with auto focus and does not have image stabilisation.  The filter size is 82 mm front mounting.

This lens is one of the NIKKOR special lenses and has been given a special name Plena.

I see this lens as a great lens for serious wildlife photography. The lens will take the 1.4x and also the 2x teleconverters very well and with this can give you the following lens options.
400mm f/4.5.
560mm f6.3 with the 1.4x teleconverter.
800mm f9 with the 2x teleconverter.

Nikon NIKKOR Z 600mm f/4 TC VR S Lens

This lens may be the ultimate wildlife and birding lens as it offers so much flexibility.
The nominal focal length is 600mm f/4 but with its inbuilt 1.4x teleconverter it is an 840mm f/5.6 lens.  With its inbuilt 1.4x teleconverter and an external 1.4x teleconverter it is 1,176mm f8 and with its inbuilt teleconverter and an external 2x teleconverter it is an amazing 1,680mm f/11 lens.
This lens is really extreme. Extremely expensive and extremely flexible in focal length.

This extreme wide angle lens is an amazing f/2.8 for wide angle low light photography.  It is very reasonably priced for such a low aperture wide angle zoom lens.

Nikon NIKKOR Z 28-400mm F/4-8 VR

This lens is designed such that it is an all in one lens for the travelling photographer. It is a lens that could be used on one of the cheaper mirrorless full frame cameras or on the cheaper DX mirrorless cameras.  Bear in mind that at the 400mm end this lens only has an aperture of f8.

Nikon NIKKON Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S Lens

A new Super Sharp, Super Telephoto Lens.  The specification of this lens is such that it has a close-up magnification of 0.38 times, on this basis the lens will be wonderful for close-ups of skittish subjects such as butterflies or other dangerous objects such  as snakes if you want to get close without danger.  With the Nikon 1.4x teleconverter the close-up magnification will be 0.53 and with the 1.4x teleconverter and the camera in DX mode, the close-up magnification will be an amazing 0.80 times, very nearly life size on the sensor.  Simply amazing.

Nikon NIKKOR Z 100-400mm

This excellent 100 to 400mm lens has a maximum aperture of f/4.5 to 5.6 depending on the focal length, the minimum aperture is  f/32 to 40 and the angle of view varies from 24° 20′ to 6° 10′.  The minimum focus distance is 2.5′ (75 cm) and the close-Up magnification is 0.38 times.  This lens is excellent for use when close focusing is required such as for close up nature or birds etc.

The optical design is 25 elements in 20 groups and it has nine rounded diaphragm blades to give excelleny bokeh.

It is an autofocus lens with excellent image Stabilization.  It has a fixed tripod collar which can also rotate.

The filter size is 77 mm and the lens diameter is 3.9″ (98mm) with a length of 8.7″ (222 mm) and a weight of 3.2 lbs (1,435 grams).

Nikon NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR Lens

This lens of focal length 180 to 600mm and maximum aperture of f/5.6 to 6.3 is not one of Nikons S range of lenses, it is a relatively cheaper version but still of very high quality and performance.

Nikon Z Full Frame Macro Lenses

There are two Z Micro lenses for the Z system cameras. If you require the best quality images, then certainly get the 105mm Macro. The 105mm lens will give you better image quality than the 50mm lens and will also provide more working distance to the subject for any skittish type subjects if you get too close to them.  Both of these lenses will auto focus up to life size images on the sensor. Both lenses are very sharp but the 105mm lens is exceptional.

These DX lenses are specifically for the range of Nikon Z DX Mirrorless Cameras. You do need to keep in mind that any of the full format lenses listed on this page can be used with the DX cameras and they will only use the central area of the field of view.

Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR Lens

I have regularly used this lens with the Nikon Z50 camera for wide angle work and have found it to be an excellent performing lens.  The lens mount is plastic rather than metal but this should not be a problem as today’s plastics are very robust.

The lens is an autofocus lens and has inbuilt image Stabilization.  The front filter size is 62 mm and the dimensions of the lens are 2.91″ (74mm) in diameter and  4.33″ (110 mm) in length with a weight of 14.29 oz (405 grams).

Nikon Z Teleconverters

These teleconverters are compatible with the Nikon  NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S Lens and any of the longer super telephoto lenses.

The teleconverter gives a magnification of 1.4x and comprises an optical design of 6 elements in 4 groups.  As with all teleconverters there is a light loss of 1 stop, the length of the teleconverter is 0.73″ (18.5 mm), with a diameter of 2.83″ (72 mm) and it weighs 7.76 oz (220 grams).  In general with this teleconverter there is virtually no loss in image quality but as mentioned a small loss in lens aperture of one stop.

This teleconverter gives a magnification 2 times and comprises an optical design of 8 Elements in 5 groups.  With this teleconverter there is a light loss 2 tops.  The length is 1.28″ (32.5 mm) with a diameter of 2.83″ (72 mm) and a weight of 9.52 oz (270 grams). With this teleconverter there will be a very slight loss in image quality but there is a noticeable loss in lens aperture of two stops as mentioned above.

Nikon FTZ II Lens Adapter

This adapter allows the mounting of a Nikon F lens on any of the Mirrorless Z cameras.
