Photographing Food with a Nikon Micro Lens
Not only do I really enjoy eating food but I also love photographing it.
A Nikon Micro lens is very suitable for photographing food, these micro lenses enable you to focus quite closely to capture close up detail.
There are several Nikon Micro lenses suitable for this type of photography, ranging from 60mm to 105mm.
In addition to a macro lens, a flash unit together with a reflector is also useful to enhance the lighting of the food.
Three of the Nikkor lenses summarised below are suitable for Macro photography of food.
- Nikon, Nikkor 85mm f/3.5G ED VR AF-S DX Micro Lens. This lens is for cameras with Nikon’s smaller DX sensor.
- Nikon, Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED Micro AF-S Lens. This lens is an FX lens suitable for close working distances which is satisfactory for subjects such as food.
- Nikon, Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED AF-S VR Micro Lens. This lens is also for FX cameras but gives a little more working distance from the subject compared to the 60mm lens.
