I love using my Nikon 300mm lens for photographing birds, but it also has many other uses. Recently I spent a week at Lennox Head, which is one of the very popular spots along the coast for surfers and in this blog would like to outline some of the issues in capturing surfers in action. Normally for this type of photography I would use a monopod but this time I used my relatively new Induro CT-414 tripod. This tripod is an extremely solid and stable tripod and will not move even in a strong wind.
In my photography I like to try to capture special moments and in the image below I have tried to capture the surfer just taking off into the raging water, it is all about capturing the subject at the decisive moment.
I really enjoyed watching and photographing these surfers as they are extremely agile and active as they travel over the waves. In the image below I aimed to capture the surfer at the peak of his action when flying through the air over the crest of a wave.
I was very happy with this session of photography as the 300mm lens and the Induro tripod were a perfect match to capture these action images.
Below are some of the equipment I use in my daily photography.
