The new Nikon 1, Nikkor VR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 Lens is a super telephoto lens for the well established Nikon 1 camera system. Being an avid bird photographer when I first saw this lens my first impression was wow, such a small lens for birding and nature photography.
Nikon class this lens as the world’s smallest and lightest super telephoto zoom lens. It has a focus limit switch, to enables a faster autofocus for capturing fast moving objects at a distance. It is a compact design with Nikons excellent Vibration Reduction functionality.
The Vibration Reduction (VR) function of this lens is specified to give 4.0 stops advantage at the telephoto end and approximately 4.5 stops advantage at the wide angle end of the lens.
There is also an optional TR-N100 Tripod Mount for use when using a tripod or monopod. I always like to use either a tripod or monopod.
This lens is an equvalent 189 mm to 810 mm compared to the 35mm full frame format.
