The Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens is the only specifically designed macro lens for the EF-S series cameras.

This very compact, fast focusing macro lens will provide great detail for you close up images.

The EF-S 60mm Macro lens will focus right down to life size so you can photograph the minutest objects.

Keep in mind that this macro specialist lens is for APS-C type, EF-S compatible Canon SLR cameras only.

This is an excellent prime lens for the nature photographer using an APS-C sized sensor. The 60mm lens is a nice size for usage in these cameras and will give a reasonable working distance for nature subjects such as some insects and animals. It will also be an excellent focal length also for subjects such as flowers or still life subjects such as collectibles, watches ornaments etc.

Most photographers do not think of a macro lens as a general purpose lens but these lenses are optimised for close up work but can also be used very successfully in particular for people photography, portraits, landscapes and general photography. Never pigeon hole your macro lens for close up images only. These prime macro lenses are generally some of the sharpest lenses available and will perform superbly not only close up but at all distances.

This lens will focus from infinity distance to a macro size of 1:1, which is actual life size, that is, the size of the subject can be the same size as the image that is seen on the sensor, so tiny subjects such as an insect can be represented as life size on the imaging sensor.
