Nikon Nikkor 85mm f/1.4G AF-S Lens Review

This lens is the long awaited replacement to the  Nikon 85mm f/1.4 D lens, the new lens having a built in focus motor. The previous lens has had an amazing reputation with professional photographers and it is expected that this new lens will exceed the previous lens with its more modern design and with the Nano crystal coating.

This lens will become the premier portrait lens with beautiful bokeh. The lens has a nine blade rounded diaphragm for natural blur effects. It has Nano Crystal Coating to significantly reduce ghost and flare which often is common with wide aperture lenses It has a Silent Wave Motor to ensure smooth and quiet AF operation and will be suitable for the full range of Nikon cameras.

Two focus modes are available,  M/A (manual focus with priority autofocus) and M (manual focus only). Nikon’s internal focusing system is used and means that the lens barrel length does not change during focusing.
